A Course in Miracles (ACIM) is a spiritual practice, a kind of practical road map to inner peace. The book explains how fear-and-guilt-based thinking can be released and it encourages us to awaken through our own step-by-step experiences to our changeless eternal Self. It was received and scribed by Dr Helen Schucman, in colloboration with Dr William Thetford between 1965 and 1972. It is careful to explain that it is one path of many paths; it emphasises non-judgement and forgiveness.

The book includes some 600 pages of  text explaining the themes and ideas, as well as a 'workbook' of 365 daily lessons and a 'manual', which explains certain terms and concepts in more detail.

The Introduction to the Course summarizes its teaching as: Nothing real can be threatened. Nothing unreal exists. Herein lies the Peace of God. ACIM provides a  path on how to restore communication with one's own 'Inner Teacher', the Higher Self, Holy Spirit or Christ presence in each of us. It explains that only that which is eternal, changeless and infinite is real and that this is what we truly are. 

Each study group is led by a well prepared facilitator, usually with a handout, and generally includes, amongst other things, the reading and discussion of that day's lesson (with Jan 1st as Lesson 1) and a period of 10 to 15 minutes for meditation and stillness. Regular attendees and practitioners of the Course are encouraged to share in the rotation of facilitating our meetings. Our aim is to provide a time for sharing, encouragement and the experience of joining with others who are interested in, following and practicing ACIM.
